*Earflaps are worked in ROWS*

NOTE: Fold hat along seam so that it lays flat (as in PICTURE ABOVE).  Center 8 stitches for adult/teen/child sizes OR 6 stitches for toddler and baby sizes  in the middle of the side of the hat for initial row of the ear flap (PICTURE BELOW). This will cause the seam to fall in the middle of the back of the hat.

Row 1-3: skip Row 3 for baby size *centering the following stitches in the middle of the side* standing sc, sc in next (7-adult/teen/child, 5-toddler/baby)  stitches, turn. (8-adult/teen/child, 6- toddler/baby, for toddler size skip Row 4, for baby size skip Rows 3-4) SEE PICTURE BELOW

Row 4: ch 1, sc2tog, sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog, join with ss, turn. (6)

Row 5: ch 1, sc2tog, sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog, join with ss, turn. (4)

Row 6: ch 1, 2 sc2tog, FO. (2) SEE PICTURE BELOW

*TURN HAT OVER. Repeat Rows 1-6 on the other side making sure to mirror the location of the ear flap on the other side, BUT DO NOT FO. They should match up when the hat is folded flat. You can do this by skipping (14 stitches for adult/teen/child/toddler sizes, 10 stitches for baby size) from the edge of the other ear flap. The second ear flap should begin in the (15th stitch for adult/teen/child, --- for toddler, 11th stitch for baby). SEE PICTURES BELOW

Finishing: starting from the working yarn on the 2nd ear flap ss across top of ear flap and down the side, then around the brim of the hat and other ear flap. Continue working around until you reach your initial ss. Join with invisible join. SEE PICTURE BELOW
