
Chunky Pine Cone Hat
Materials:
8mm hook
~300 yds of bulky weight (5) yarn
Tapestry needle
4-5 green worsted weight yarn scraps (each about 8” long)

fsc=foundation single crochet
sc=single crochet
hdc=half double crochet
dc=double crochet
htc=half treble crochet
tc=treble crochet
ss=slip stitch
ch=chain
Size Note: This hat can be made to fit adults/teens, children, toddlers and babies. Size adjustments are listed in parenthesis in the the order (adult/teen, child, toddler, baby) where applicable. All other pattern instructions should be followed as written.
Pattern:
Rnd 1: fsc 48 (44, 40, 36), join with ss.
Rnd 2: standing dc, skip next stitch, (dc, ch1, dc) in next stitch, skip next stitch, *dc in next stitch, skip next stitch, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next stitch, skip next stitch,* repeat *to* around SEE PICTURE BELOW, join with ss.

Rnd 3: ch 2, *(4 dc, htc, tc) down next dc, (tc, htc, 4 dc) up next dc (SEE PICTURE 3), ss in next dc*, repeat *to* around, join with ss SEE PICTURES BELOW

Finishing:
Weave in all ends using a tapestry needle. Use 4-5 green worsted weight yarn scraps (varied colors can be quite nice so don’t stress if they are different greens ;) ) to create the pine needle fringe at the end of the twig. SEE PICTURES BELOW
