Tuck No Tails 2 Dashed Scarf

Materials:

300 yards of worsted weight yarn (color A)

500 yards of worsted weight yarn (color  B)

6mm hook

Scissors

Ruler

Abbreviations:

foundation=foundation half double crochet

Standing hdc=standing half double crochet

hdc=half double crochet

dc=double crochet

ss=slip stitch

FO=fasten off

Gauge Note: This pattern can be worked in any gauge of yarn with an appropriately paired hook. I recommend going up one size from the manufacturer’s indicated hook size for a nice easy drape.

Size Note: The length and width of this scarf can be customized to fit the wearer. To make it wider simply add rows until you have reached your desired width making sure to end on a Row 5 repeat. To adjust the length make your foundation row (Row 1) in any multiple of 6, then add 3 more.

Row 6- : Repeat Rows 4 and 5

Fringe:

Step 1: Cut fringe to desired length (the sample is about 16 inches). Fold 2 strands in half as shown BELOW.

Step 2: With either side of the scarf facing you (doesn’t matter just don’t forget to be consistent on both ends), insert your hook behind the leftmost stitch (rightmost for lefties).

Step 3: Use your hook to draw the loop of your 2 folded strands behind this stitch, but DO NOT pull all the way through.

Step 4: Gather the tails of your folded 2 strand AND the tail from that row and feed them together through the loop you have created.

Step 5: Gently pull the strand through being careful not to pull too hard on tail from the end of your row.

Step 6: Allow the loop formed by your folded strands to close around that leftmost (rightmost for lefties) stitch, incorporating the tail from the row into this bundle.

Step 7: Fold the scarf in half so that the edges of the scarf line up on top of each other fringe top to fringe top. The fringe will more than likely be uneven so make sure to match the edges of the actual scarf and not the ends of the fringe.

Step 8: Decide your desired fringe length and place your ruler so that it is to the left for your desired cutting edge. I usually find the shortest strand and place my ruler to the left of it. Lefties: You will place your ruler to the right of your desired cut line.

Step 9: Press down on your ruler firmly and trim along the edge of the ruler to help you maintain a straight line
